IPL 2026: Rajasthan Royals Join RCB in Race to Host Home Matches in Pune

Rajasthan Royals and RCB eye Pune as home venue for IPL 2026 matches
The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have made a compelling bid to the IPL 2026 season to host their home games in Pune, thus aligning with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) who have already approached the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) at the beginning of this month.
MCA secretary Adv. Kamlesh Pisal verified the transfer and mentioned that the two franchises have shown their intent to play a few of their home games at the MCA International Stadium in Pune.
“RCB had approached us earlier regarding hosting their home matches in IPL 2026, and discussions are still ongoing. Now, Rajasthan Royals have also shown interest,” Pisal told IANS.
“They visited Pune recently, inspected the facilities, reviewed logistics and expressed willingness to host some of their matches here. The final call now rests with the BCCI on which team will get the venue.”
Why Rajasthan Royals Are Considering a Venue Shift
RR’s search for an alternate home ground stems from ongoing tensions with the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA). The tussle escalated during IPL 2025 after an RCA official accused the franchise of match-fixing—allegations the team strongly denied while demanding disciplinary action.
While Jaipur remains their primary base, the Royals are likely to divide their home games between venues, including Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, which has previously served as their secondary home ground.
RCB Yet to Confirm Final Decision
Meanwhile, RCB have requested more time from MCA before finalizing their home venue. The Bengaluru franchise is expected to make a decision after the IPL 2026 auction scheduled for December 16 in Abu Dhabi.
MCA Stadium’s Cricketing Legacy
The MCA International Stadium in Pune has a strong IPL history, having previously hosted home fixtures for:

- Rising Pune Supergiant
- Punjab Kings
